Matthew J. Gerber, MD
Born and raised in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C., Dr. Matthew Gerber graduated magna cum laude from The College of William and Mary in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Dr. Gerber earned his medical degree from The University of Maryland-Baltimore, where he also graduated magna cum laude as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society.
Dr. Gerber completed both his general surgery internship and his residency in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery at The University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Dr. Gerber’s residency included thorough training in both pediatric and adult otolaryngology and head and neck surgery. He is board-certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology.
Dr. Gerber’s practice encompasses all aspects of head and neck medicine and surgery for both children and adults. He particularly enjoys taking care of pediatric patients, as well as helping patients with diseases involving ears, nose and sinuses, and the thyroid.
Dr. Gerber, his wife, Kathryn, and their two children live in Raleigh. They enjoy a variety of interests including athletics, photography, and fishing. Dr. Gerber has enjoyed coaching youth basketball, soccer, and baseball through the Salvation Army Athletic and CASL programs. He and his wife are active adult leaders in Scouting with their children’s Troops. Their family particularly enjoys watching ACC basketball and visiting the North Carolina coast.
