Rayan Kaakati, MD
Dr. Rayan Kaakati is a pediatric and adult allergist and immunologist specializing in the treatment of environmental allergies, food allergies, drug allergies, eczema, hives, asthma, and immune deficiencies for children and adults.
Dr. Kaakati graduated from the University of California in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in neurobiology. She moved to North Carolina for medical school, where she graduated from Duke University School of Medicine in 2019. After medical school she moved up to Ann Arbor and completed her residency in internal medicine in 2022 from the University of Michigan. Dr. Kaakati continued to switch shades of blue and completed her fellowship in pediatric and adult allergy and immunology at the University of North Carolina in 2024.
As a fellow, Dr. Kaakati conducted mast cell research with Dr. Cem Akin and eosinophilic esophagitis research with Drs. Scott Commins and Evan Dellon, and has a particular interest in seasonal/environmental allergies, eosinophilic esophagitis and drug allergy (in particular, de-labeling penicillin allergies).
Dr. Kaakati and her husband live in Raleigh with their two young children. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, trying new restaurants, and watching movies.
